Our little get away

Here are some pictures of our week in Granbury (a historical Texas town). We wished we were back in Cozumel (like last year)...but it was very nice to get away for a mini-vacation. We were so blessed to stay at the Condo again and for so long this time. The heat was incredible Though!! Just like our wedding day! Eleven years of marriage!! Wow, time flies by!
These pictures are all out of order...Christopher in the pool which we had all to ourselves for the most part. We spent several hours there everyday. We did rent a jet ski one afternoon, the kids had a blast!
A quick photo as we were leaving. The couple who own the condo served on a board with Calixto. They are so kind to let people come and stay there for free. We usually just stay when he has a board meeting but this time was just for pleasure. (With just a little board business) On Saturday night we went to "Granbury Live" a great musical and comedy production. We all had so much fun. All the performers are Christians who desire to glorify God with their gifts in a family friendly style of entertainment. How cool is that? And they were very talented! Catherine was so excited about the pop-corn!
my little tanned beauty
There is a quaint square around the Historical Courthouse where we love to shop. Christopher got this cool puzzle that we put together 3 times.
Eating watermelon on the balcony overlooking the lakeDaddy and Catherine swimming together
Another shot from the balcony. I didn't want Catherine to ruin her clothes with watermelon drips thus the reason for her lack of clothing!

Hollywood

Here is a link to the rest of our pictures from CA if you are interested California

Oh I forgot!

here is Elizabeth and Sami with Rambo!

We are back

Elizabeth, Cody and I just got back from California. We went to a Spiritual Leadership Conference. We such a good time. We went to 3 sessions a day for 3 days. I am so excited. I learned so much. Some of my sessions were for things for school and church ministries but some were just personal ones for me. My favorite was raising your kids for the ministry. There was great Preaching in the morning and night each night too. The church we were at was amazing. They had over 200 members in the choir. The church seats 3000 and was packed out each service night and morning.

This is the Choir singing.
This is most of our group. 17 of us went
This is the car I rented. It really looked like a small hummer. One of the men who came drove it for me because it was scarey especially coming out of LA
This was the choir again. This was the last night and we had a missions emphasis. I think they said there was like 40 countries represented here.
And this is what I got to look out while doing my devotions out on our balcony in the mornings.

Look at what I found at 10:30 last night.

She was very proud of her self and even said ccchhheeessseeee when she saw the camera. She was not so cute at naptime when she took her diaper off. Lets just say she made a nasty mess. Oh my goodness what in the world am I going to do when she actually turns two.

Look at this!!

This was Bruces first pair of cowboy boots. My mom took them over to where Cody works and the man there made them into planters....one for me and one for Jean. It came with this verse Proverbs 2:20 That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous. It was funny because both Elizabeth and Cody said hey who ruined dads boots......these were his old ones that were no good but he could just never throw them away.

some pictures

Here are a few random pictures...practicing before the last game of the season. We didn't have a winning season but Christopher did a great job and he loved it.Catherine having a party with her bears. I don't know why we spent all that time searching for just the right outfits at Build a Bear Workshop for "Olivia Jane's" clothes...Catherine always takes them off and doesn't dress her again! Last day of swim lessons
At lessons one day an older woman asked me if Catherine was my grand daughter??!! I told her no, she was mine and she pointed out that they had "one" too and pointed to her bi-racial grandson (or great-grandson)! I was so appalled I didn't know what to say!
Catherine has no fear. The instructor took each child down the slide...not Catherine, she went down all by herself! I could not believe it! At the bottom of the slide you drop a couple of feet into the water...she absolutely loved it! Definitely something Christopher would not have done at her age! She is our little thrill seeker. On the plane trip back to Texas we hit a little turbulence and she exclaimed "Weeee!"

Cheyenne and Bear

This is Cheyenne , Bear and of course nee-nee(her blankey).

Here she is with nee-nee. She loves to rub it on her legs.
And her feet. She also loves to rub it on her nose and eyes. I think we should start them out with black blankey's so they don't look so nasty.

Mimi

I have to say that Mimi was still Mimi even in her last few days. She was so sweet and trusting. When I would ask her if she was in pain she would say Noooooooo. We would tell her we love her and she would say I love you too. We decided her lips were very dry and we put on some lip gloss and in typical Mimi style she folded up her blanket and promptly wiped it off just like she always wiped her lips on her tissue. And when she would reach up to itch her head she would fluff her hair when she was done. It was just so cute to see her fluff her hair just like she use too. I asked her if she would like me to read to her from the Bible and she said yes. They always left her tv very loudly on a Christian station too. I really thank God for Mimi and the heritage that is there because of her and Poppop. I don't think that Bruce would have been the person that he was if it hadn't been for them. I think that each of us can say the same thing. Our lives just wouldn't be what they are now if Mimi and Pop Pop hadn't loved the Lord the way they did. They started a chain that I pray will continue for many generations. What family can say that everyone in it is saved and many serving God? Not very many especially today. We will surely miss Mimi .

toothless

I am in NJ now and found the pictures I was looking for...her toothless picture is just precious! She was just as sweet as could be but, just couldn't believe someone had the nerve to steal her tooth while she was asleep!

A life well lived!

I couldn't find any other pictures of Mimi on my computer. I was trying to find one of the last ones we took when we visited her in the Fall.
She had broken a front tooth off of her denture and kept telling us someone stole it in the night!! She kept saying "Can you believe that? Someone stole my tooth!" It was just too funny. We have a picture of her smiling with her missing tooth! It must have been with my dad's camera.
Anyway, I'll miss Mimi. So glad she is in heaven where she will worship her Lord forever with a clear mind and with clear eyes!
Thank you Lord for your great mercy on us and your faithfulness to our very last breath!

update on Mimi 5/26/06

I went to sit with Mimi today. She is doing a lot worse today than yesterday. Hospice is now involved and they have taken her off all of her other meds and she is only taking morphine. It will make her more comfortable. I couldn't get her to respond to me very much today and she is very restless. The nurse didn't think it will be to long. Tracy and I will go back tonight and see how she is doing.

Mimi Update

I went and saw Mimi this afternoon. She is about the same I would say. She woke up when i came in so I talked with her a while. I asked her if she wanted me to read to her and she said yes, so I read the Bible to her for a while. She hates to let go of your hand. Hospice stopped in today. We kind of bypassed a lot of red tape because Lew has some people from hospice in his church. They went there instead of waiting for all the steps at the nursing home. The nursing home usually calls them after a huge process. I am told that it can take quite a long time for them to get in there so Praise God they should be in there soon. The nurse told Tom today that it could be a week or less. It seems that everyone gets home from their travels on Monday. Lew and Jean are in Oklahoma, Earl is in Ohio and Tom is going to Chips in Boston. Keep up the prayers and I will keep updating.

Loft Bed

This is my bed i am making i couldent get back enough to get a good picture of it . I am not done yet I have to get more wood.

Update on Mimi

Tracy and I went to see her again last night and I will go tonight too. I just feel so bad for her. She told us she has no pain. Last night she said she felt good. She is such a shell of herself though and I feel bad leaving her. We told her we loved her last night and she tells us she loves us too. She also responded when i told her we were leaving. She said do you have to leave. I told her we would be back and she said ok you come back. We are looking into hospice going in. If they will they go in for 2 8hour shifts a day. That would mean someone would be with her. Then if there is a change we will know right away about it. Rather than just having a nurse check on her on rounds. I will update again if I find out more
