Mimi

I have to say that Mimi was still Mimi even in her last few days. She was so sweet and trusting. When I would ask her if she was in pain she would say Noooooooo. We would tell her we love her and she would say I love you too. We decided her lips were very dry and we put on some lip gloss and in typical Mimi style she folded up her blanket and promptly wiped it off just like she always wiped her lips on her tissue. And when she would reach up to itch her head she would fluff her hair when she was done. It was just so cute to see her fluff her hair just like she use too. I asked her if she would like me to read to her from the Bible and she said yes. They always left her tv very loudly on a Christian station too. I really thank God for Mimi and the heritage that is there because of her and Poppop. I don't think that Bruce would have been the person that he was if it hadn't been for them. I think that each of us can say the same thing. Our lives just wouldn't be what they are now if Mimi and Pop Pop hadn't loved the Lord the way they did. They started a chain that I pray will continue for many generations. What family can say that everyone in it is saved and many serving God? Not very many especially today. We will surely miss Mimi .

toothless

I am in NJ now and found the pictures I was looking for...her toothless picture is just precious! She was just as sweet as could be but, just couldn't believe someone had the nerve to steal her tooth while she was asleep!

A life well lived!

I couldn't find any other pictures of Mimi on my computer. I was trying to find one of the last ones we took when we visited her in the Fall.
She had broken a front tooth off of her denture and kept telling us someone stole it in the night!! She kept saying "Can you believe that? Someone stole my tooth!" It was just too funny. We have a picture of her smiling with her missing tooth! It must have been with my dad's camera.
Anyway, I'll miss Mimi. So glad she is in heaven where she will worship her Lord forever with a clear mind and with clear eyes!
Thank you Lord for your great mercy on us and your faithfulness to our very last breath!

update on Mimi 5/26/06

I went to sit with Mimi today. She is doing a lot worse today than yesterday. Hospice is now involved and they have taken her off all of her other meds and she is only taking morphine. It will make her more comfortable. I couldn't get her to respond to me very much today and she is very restless. The nurse didn't think it will be to long. Tracy and I will go back tonight and see how she is doing.

Mimi Update

I went and saw Mimi this afternoon. She is about the same I would say. She woke up when i came in so I talked with her a while. I asked her if she wanted me to read to her and she said yes, so I read the Bible to her for a while. She hates to let go of your hand. Hospice stopped in today. We kind of bypassed a lot of red tape because Lew has some people from hospice in his church. They went there instead of waiting for all the steps at the nursing home. The nursing home usually calls them after a huge process. I am told that it can take quite a long time for them to get in there so Praise God they should be in there soon. The nurse told Tom today that it could be a week or less. It seems that everyone gets home from their travels on Monday. Lew and Jean are in Oklahoma, Earl is in Ohio and Tom is going to Chips in Boston. Keep up the prayers and I will keep updating.

Loft Bed

This is my bed i am making i couldent get back enough to get a good picture of it . I am not done yet I have to get more wood.

Update on Mimi

Tracy and I went to see her again last night and I will go tonight too. I just feel so bad for her. She told us she has no pain. Last night she said she felt good. She is such a shell of herself though and I feel bad leaving her. We told her we loved her last night and she tells us she loves us too. She also responded when i told her we were leaving. She said do you have to leave. I told her we would be back and she said ok you come back. We are looking into hospice going in. If they will they go in for 2 8hour shifts a day. That would mean someone would be with her. Then if there is a change we will know right away about it. Rather than just having a nurse check on her on rounds. I will update again if I find out more

Mimi

It seems as though Mimi's last days are upon us.
She is very dehydrated and is refusing to eat or drink. She has pretty much given up. Her only desire now is to be at home with the Lord!

Please pray for her physical comfort as well as the timing of everything. My parents are in Oklahoma, Uncle Earl and Aunt Donna are in Ohio and Uncle Tom will be going out of town as well.

"For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain...My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that
is far better."

School is out and summer is here!

Here is our "Incredi-girl"! Luckily she only wears her mask at home! This was Christopher's last soccer game as a "Tiger". I didn't a good picture the whole game. He received his trophy yesterday. He was very proud when the coach called him the offensive star of the team. Next season he will be automatically re-pooled onto a new team. He's been on the Tigers for 2 years. Saying goodbye to Mrs. Ford, the best 2nd grade teacher! This is at awards night, each child gets a godly character award, Christopher's was "Joyfulness". We had prayed in the mornings that he would be a joy to his teacher this year and God answered those prayers and instilled that character quality in him. He also made the honor roll and received the presidential fitness award. (Mom, do you notice how skinny he has gotten?)The last day of school is always "Field Day" The kids have a lot of fun with a little friendly competition. Pop-pop do you like his haircut?
Catherine decided to put the bicycle helmet on all by herself! We just laughed and laughed as she rode around for a while like this! Mommy just had to make a little adjustment...and no Elizabeth I didn't clip her neck! I am always very careful not to do that again to any child. I don't want to scar anyone else for life!!I need to go figure out a daily summer schedule for me and the kids! Hope everyone is doing well!

Here are a few pictures from the last few weeks...

Christopher plays for the "Athletics" He usually plays 3rd base and does a great job. He gets a hit everytime he is at bat with the exception of one strike out. At this age they have machine pitch. He has done extremely well considering it is his first season to play baseball. It has been very tiring doing both soccer and b'ball. Soccer will be over next Saturday...yeah!
Lucy, our neighbor came over to help with egg decoration! She is one of 7 children.

We chose to marbelize the eggs instead of dying them. They turned out beautifully and looked artificial. This was a really fun way to decorate them. The handsome couple on Easter morning. Christopher didn't end up wearing the jacket but looked handsome just the same. Just look at those Rutledge ears! Thanks mom-mom
yeah, my hair looks a bit funny...it was windy!Calixto was up late practicing his mime, thus the puffy eyes! Some of it is allergies too! Cute picture of Father and daughter! Notice the unfinished landscaping in the background, I'm going to have to hire another landscaper to finish the job I guess!
On the hunt for eggs.Catherine's final bounty of eggs, it sure took long enough for her to find all of them! Pastor Candido's visit to Pastor Bo and Beth's house with the elders and their wives (and a few of the kids) Everyone tells me Beth (holding the baby) and I look like sisters. Or I hear that Deb (next to me in the blue shirt) and I look a lot alike, even her husband has mistaken me for his wife! What do you think?
